De Gagne Presents in Saudi Arabia as Guest Lecturer

Jennie De Gagne, associate professor, recently presented a lecture entitled “Professional Development of Nurse Educators: From Knowledge to Action” at the International Medical Center Academy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The three-day lecture, which offered 17.25 contact hours by Duke University Health System Clinical Education & Professional Development, aimed to provide nurse educators from various regions of Saudi Arabia with the opportunity to explore the multiple dimensions and competencies of the educator role with a focus on clinical staff education and professional development. The program introduced 34 participants to the principles of adult learning, the concepts of learning styles and preferences, and challenges and strategies on the integration of technology into nursing education.

On the third day, participants had the opportunity to review the content outline of the Nursing Professional Development Board Certification (NPD-BC) examination by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

De Gagne has been certified in NPD since 2007 and was invited to the NPD field test for statistical qualities of newly written and revised test questions.
