Dean's Message: Welcome Diane Uzarski as Chief of Staff

It is my pleasure to announce that Diane Uzarski, DNP, MPH, RN will be joining the Duke University School of Nursing as my Chief of Staff effective March 1, 2016.  In this capacity, Diane will serve an integral role in the support, coordination and collaboration of a variety of initiatives for my office.

Diane may be familiar to many of you as an Adjunct Professor and a 2015 graduate of our DNP program, but she comes to us directly from the Duke Translational Research Institute (DTRI) where she served as Associate Director, Biobanking Program - Clinical Trials Project Leader.   With extensive research, consulting, policy and clinical experience, Diane will extend and enhance not only the work of my office, but also the work of the School. Her office will be across the hall from the dean’s suite.

When I arrived at DUSON, I shared with you my decision to wait on filling the vacant Chief of Staff position until I had a better understanding for how the role could enhance our mission. As we realign our efforts around an emerging strategic plan and a more responsive organizational structure, now is the time to bring someone of Diane’s ability and experience to assist us in that work. I know that each of you will help Diane feel welcomed in her new role.

Thank you,

Marion E. Broome, PhD, RN, FAAN
