Derouin Receives Caring Heart Award from NCSBHA

Anne Derouin was recently awarded the Cheryl Lynne Matthews Nooe Caring Heart Award from the NC School-based Health Alliance (NCSBHA). The award recognizes the dedication and efforts of a school-based health center staff member with five or more years of service in North Carolina. Derouin was nominated for the award by her peers at Durham Southern High School and Duke Community and Family Medicine.

The award was created in memory of Cheryl Lynne Matthews Nooe, a social worker with 20 years of service to Rockingham County Student Health Centers. Nooe was naturally gifted in caring for others and touched the lives of many students during her service in the Rockingham County Student Health Center. She was a team player, friend and colleague to both school staff and school-based health center staff. Nooe was kind-hearted with a warm spirit and never hesitated gto go the extra mile to meet the needs of a student, their family or her co-workers when they had a need. On February 1, 2015, she passed away after a braved battle with breast cancer.
