Age Discrimination

This week, DUSON ODEI celebrates older adults in the workplace! Currently 20% of workers in the U.S. are over the age of 65 with 25% being over the age of 55. According to World Health Organization, environments play an integral role in our physical and mental health. While the effects of aging is experienced differently by each person, it is important that the workplace is one that promotes safety, healthfulness and wellbeing and also provides comprehensive strategies so employees can function at the optimal level. Did you know that the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older? It does not protect workers under the age of 40, although some states have laws that protect younger workers from age discrimination.
