Doing Good in the Neighborhood: United Way of the Greater Triangle... More than a Roof

A couch. A car. A motel.

For many in our community, these words describe home.

Until recently, the Joyners were a family living without stable housing. A family of four with a single mother and three children, they, like many other hardworking families in our community, lived in a hotel.

Then the Joyners found More Than a Roof.

Funded by the United Way of the Greater Triangle, More Than a Roof is a collaborative of nonprofits based in Wake County providing holistic services to families without stable housing.

More Than a Roof made it possible for the Joyners to move into a house and obtain a reliable vehicle. This has already made childcare easier for Mom, and the potential cascade of benefits is evident: Mom is planning on going back to school with aspirations of becoming a social worker or a dental hygienist.
