Duke Narrative Medicine Colloquium
The Narrative Medicine Colloquium is a year-long exploration of the Duke activities and programs that give faculty, caregivers, students and others the opportunity to reflect on their lives through stories. It is also a focused effort to look for new ways to build narrative into the research, medical education, clinical care and employee health at Duke.
This colloquium is open to all Duke faculty members, medical trainees and students, nursing students, undergraduates, staff, and others who are interested in narrative medicine.
The colloquium will begin with two meetings to inventory and review current activities, followed by three structured meetings to outline and discuss new opportunities. In addition, we will schedule three to five interactive sessions to showcase readings, storytelling, and other narrative performances.
• Inventory meetings: Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. in DMP 2W93 and March • Structured discussion and presentation meetings: May, Aug. and Sept. • Interactive sessions: April, July and Nov.
If you can’t attend an inventory meeting, take a minute to fill out the Narrative Medicine Projects at Duke form here.
Plan to attend the Voices of Medicine show on Feb. 28 and consider being a storyteller. Find more details here.
