Duke Population Health Science Presents "Health Care & Long-Term Care Costs of Alzheimer's Disease And Related Dementias"

Dr. Norma CoeDuke School of Medicine Population Health Sciences presents "Health Care & Long-Term Care Costs of Alzheimer's Disease And Related Dementias" featuring Norma Coe, PhD, associate professor, Medical Ethics and Health Policy, Perelman School of Medicine, on Thursday, October 3, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Imperial Building located at 215 Morris Street, Suite 210.

Coe's research interests are in health economics and public finance, identifying causal effects of policies that directly and indirectly impact health, human behavior, and health care access and utilization.

During the seminar, Coe will discuss:

  • The incremental cost estimates of Alzheimer's disease and related dementials over the first five years after onset.

  • The costs to traditional Medicare and Medicaid and out-of-pocket spending.

  • Methods developed by Anirban Basu and Willard G Manning that estimate the roles of survival and utilization differences due to the disease.
