DUSON Community Members Attend 31st Annual ANAC Conference in Colorado

A number of DUSON community members attended the recent 31st annual conference of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) in Denver, Colorado.

At the conference, Les Harmon, associate professor, received the ANAC Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given to a current member of ANAC for outstanding lifetime accomplishments that have enhanced the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. The award is recommended by the ANAC president to the board of directors for approval and is given at the board’s discretion.

Adjunct faculty member Kara McGee gave two presentations entitled "Modernization of the North Carolina HIV Control Measures: The Role of the Health Provider” and “Development of a HIV Social Issues Course for Nurse Practitioner Students.”

Ralph Mangusan, DNP '18 presented a poster entitled "Integration of Anal Dysplasia Screening into the Primary Care of Persons with HIV."

Dennis Flores PhD '16 was a presenter at the Open Global Session at the conference.

Alycia Dickens DNP '12 gave a presentation entitled "Saving Our Queens: PrEP in African American Women."

Others attending the conference included Michael Relf, associate dean for global and community health affairs; Emily Comstock MSN '16 and Michael Roggelin, current MSN HIV specialty student.
