DUSON & DAAMN Host Male High School Students
Duke University School of Nursing and the Duke Chapter of the American Assembly for Men in Nursing (DAAMN) recently hosted 25 male high school students from Alamance-Burlington School System who are interested in a career in health care.
The visit began with an information session given by Brett Morgan, the faculty advisor for DAAMN. The topics included education requirements, salary ranges and the various specialty areas of nursing. The day also included a panel discussion that included two nursing students, one labor and delivery nurse and two nurse anesthetists. Panelist shared their journey into the nursing field.
The high school students had an opportunity to tour the Center for Nursing Discovery where they were able to engage in hands-on learning in labor and delivery, intubation and anesthesia.
