DUSON Emergency Awareness: Crime Prevention & the New Duke App

DUSON is committed to the safety of its faculty, staff and students. Beginning this month, the School of Nursing Emergency and Crisis Management Team will focus on bringing awareness on various topics such as crime prevention, holiday safety and tornadoes.

For the month of May, the awareness theme is on crime prevention. In a 2014 study with the U.S. Department of Education, there were more than 1,000 crimes reported on North Carolina college and university campuses. To assist in continuing to provide a safe environment for the Duke community, the School now offers a mobile app called LiveSafe.

The Duke LiveSafe app is free through the Apple App Store and Android App Store and it offers real-time, two-way communication between Duke community members and the Duke University Police Department.
