DUSON Staff Cultivates Relationships in All-Day Retreat

The Staff and Workplace Advocacy Council (SAWAC) recently hosted an All-Day Staff Retreat at the Croasdaile Country Club in Durham. The retreat was attended by more than 100 staff members representing various areas across the School.

The retreat was developed with the assistance of the Duke Learning & Organization Development office. During the day, staff gained insights on their own behavior and that of others, and how to understand and appreciate the styles of the people they work with.

Through group work, staff members were able to cultivate skills to create more effective and productive working relationships. The day closed with tips on how to improve work-life fit and resilience.

What's next?

SAWAC invites you to check out their growing resource database located on the 'S' drive: S:\Staff\SAWAC. Staff members will be able to obtain information from the retreat such as the "Life Balance Self Care Wheel" as well as information on upcoming SAWAC events like the monthly staff meeting. In addition, the database will house photos from SAWAC events.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for the DUSON Faculty & Staff Holiday Party on Thursday, December 8, from 3 to 5 p.m.
