DUSON Students Gain Experience in Community Health
February 28, 2018
Students from various DUSON programs are gaining clinical practice experience in a variety of settings in the community. One of those settings is Durham Housing Authority’s (DHA) J. J. Henderson Housing Center where Clinical Instructor Jean Hanson takes her students each week.
“At J. J. Henderson Housing Center, our students have the chance to get hands-on community health nursing experience. They also have the opportunity to learn how social determinants such as poverty, housing and environment impact health,” says Instructor Hanson.
According to DHA staff member Joyce Briggs, “Our residents look forward to seeing the students each week. Their lives are enriched by the programs and services provided by DUSON students.”
