DUSON Welcomes Russell and Turner
The Duke School of Nursing welcomes two new staff members this week: Monica Russell, program director for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and Stephanie Turner, public relations specialist in Marketing and Communications.
Russell comes from the Duke University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program where she was the clinical education senior program coordinator for the past four years. She has also been a major part of the DPT Summer Discovery program which is designed to expose undergraduates interested in physical therapy to the profession and to Duke. Russell has a bachelor's in psychology from North Carolina A&T State University and a master's in healthcare management from Columbia Southern University (CSU) and will graduate next May with a master in healthcare administration degree from Walden University. She is a two-time inducted member of the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success from CSU Alumni Chapter and Walden University. She was raised in military life, has been to more countries than states, has two sons (ages 8 and 6), and loves coffee, going to the gym, and shoes.
Prior to coming to Duke, Turner served as the Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator at Durham Tech for two years. Her communications career began at a daily newspaper in Aiken, South Carolina, where, throughout the course of five years, she worked as a features reporter, features editor, copy editor, and page designer. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, she graduated from Valdosta State University in 2012 with her bachelor's in English with a journalism focus. She currently resides in Morrisville and, in her off time, participates in the local performing arts.
