DUSON Welcomes Sanders, Emerson, Burns and Arthur

Duke University School of Nursing welcomes Sanders, Emerson, Burns and Arthur!

Camilla (Cam) Sanders joined DUSON in December 2017 as a senior clinical research specialist working on Isaac Lipkus’s health risk studies. Her main responsibilities include assisting with startup of his study involving young adult assessments of risk of waterpipe tobacco smoking. Prior to joining DUSON, Cam worked with Duke Pediatric Genetics. Cam’s educational background is in developmental biopsychology (UNC-G) and journalism (Marshall).

Maralis Mercado Emerson joined DUSON in January 2018 as a clinical research coordinator. Her main responsibilities include serving as the study coordinator for the SER Hispano research study. Duke has been her home for eight years, where she previously served as the student development coordinator for DuWell in Student Affairs. She is an educator, storyteller, coach and all around lover of being in community. She holds two master's degrees, one in public health from the University of South Florida and one in christian studies from Duke University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida. She firmly trusts in the power of faith, self-love, self-compassion and dreaming big. Emerson is located in Rutherford 158.

Ebony Burns joined DUSON in January 2018 as a clinical research coordinator. Before working at Duke, Ebony was a testing coordinator and spanish translator and interpreter at Guilford County Schools for several years. In November 2014, Ebony held her first position as a research aide, Sr. in the Office of Faculty Mentoring. As a research aide, Ebony became acclimated with the ins and outs of REDCap, event coordination as well as getting to know various faculty members across campus. After the loss of all vital personnel in the office, Ebony served as the interim program director for several months. Ebony began working in the Duke Office of Clinical Research as a clinical data specialist in April 2016. As a clinical data specialist, she continued to learn more about REDCap, built and maintained databases for several study teams in the Duke community, updated training materials and enforced team building on the data team. Ebony holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a healthcare management concentration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as well as master’s degree in health administration from Pfeiffer University.

Megan Arthur recently joined the Center for Nursing Research. Her main responsibility is working on the Pediatric Educational Discharge Support Strategies study with Cheryl Rodgers and Marilyn Hockenberry. Arthur comes from a clinical research coordinator position with the Heart Center Cath Lab research group. She is located in Rutherford 147.
