DUSON Wellness: No Strength Classes this Week, Chair Massages and More!

CHAIR MASSAGE THIS WEEK

On Tuesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 20 we will be offering two opportunities to get a free, 15-minute chair massage in Pearson 3102! Please register here to reserve your spot.

NO STRENGTH THIS WEEK

Strength class will not be held this week at the School of Nursing. The Run/Walk Club will offer a free strength class from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. on the East Campus Lawn.

HEALTHY DUKE WELLNESS EXPO AT DUSON

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Oct. 10 when LIVE FOR LIFE and Healthy Duke bring their annual Wellness Expo to DUSON. Be the first to receive your free flu shot, get a Health Assessment, free chair massage, giveaways and other wellness resources. 

SAVE THE DATE: BRYAN SEXTON COMES TO DUSON

Join us in welcoming Bryan Sexton to the School of Nursing on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 12 until 1:30 p.m. in Pearson 1014. Bryan will be giving a talk on resilience and burnout prevention titled, Surviving vs. Thriving in Times of Change: the science of enhancing resilience. RELAXATION ROOM

Monday, Sept. 17 from 12 until 4 p.m. in Pearson 3023, come and ease your mind in the relaxation room. Taking intentional breaks can help sustain energy, enhance mood and improve your ability to cope with challenges. We need volunteers to help set up/break down the room – please sign up here.

YOGA CLASSES

Yoga classes are every Tuesday from 11 until 11:45 a.m. in Pearson 1011 (this is a different room than previously advertised). These classes will be led by Lindsey Crawford, Registered Yoga Teacher, and will focus on toning muscles, releasing physical tension and encouraging feelings of calm and balance. The class is accessible to all levels and mats are provided. Classes are free, register here to reserve a spot!

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

  • The Voices of Duke Health listening booth is a space for you to have a conversation with a colleague, loved one, or friend about what is meaningful in your lives, your work, and your relationships.  Click HERE to download a flyer for the program.
  • Bull City Commons is a health-oriented, walkable, bikeable, co-housing community near 9th Street and is looking for new members!
  • Free yoga on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. in Room 144 of the Student Wellness Center led by ABSN Student Emily Norton. The practice will be tailored to help with physical nursing difficulties like foot fatigue, low back pain, hip flexibility, and spinal flexibility.
