Faculty, Staff and Students Raise Over $2,000 for Hurricane Week

Faculty, staff and students raised $2,835.16 for Hurricane Week. This money will be going to the Houston Food Bank to support Hurricane Harvey Relief. 

Donations were made through bake sales, coin competitions and events hosted through Pure Barre and The Tavern.

ABSN student Rachel Turner, student ambassador and student faculty relations chair and key organizer of the event, said that other key players were Diane Uzarski, Nicole Fleming, Najla McClain, Remi Huekel, Nanika Rhodes, William Falls and Julie Yamagiwa.

"I also want to thank all of the faculty and staff who donated raffle items, all the students who helped backed good and everyone who donated or participated in the events. Also, thank you to Pure Barre and The Tavern for hosting fundraising events for us," Turner said.

The results of the coin competition are:

  • 1st place: Staff ($888.75)
  • 2nd place: Faculty ($353.74)
  • 3rd place: Students ($329.87)

The donations will equal around 7,500 meals!
