Faculty, Staff & Students Represent DUSON at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Conference in Texas
School of Nursing faculty, staff and students were quite busy in San Antonio, Texas as they represented nursing excellence at the 2016 American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) National Conference June 21-26.

Iris Padilla and Kathryn Evans Kreider, entitled "Reducing Cardiovascular Risk in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.”

Kathy Trotter, entitled “When breast cancer survivors return to primary care: Beyond pink ribbons.”

Michael Zychowicz, entitled “Management of Selected Upper Extremity Injuries” and “Musculoskeletal Imaging: What to Order When.” He also participated in a panel presentation with other GNE demonstration sites entitled “Graduate Nurse Education Demonstration Project.”

DNP alumni Major Cindy Roberts and Zychowicz, entitled “Improving the Management of Tibia Stress Fractures in the Outpatient Clinic.”

Anne Derouin, entitled “Preparing Nurse Practitioners for Excellence in Leadership within a Changing Health Care Environment.”

Adjunct faculty Maria Colandrea, entitled “Clinical Pearls for Evaluating the Complaint of Hearing Loss.”

Zychowicz entitled “Improving Gout Management in Primary Care: Findings From a Mixed Methods Study.”
Honey Jones co-taught the three-day Fundamental Critical Care Support Course (FCCS) at the conference. This 24-hour long course had 120 attendees. In addition, she presented, twice, a workshop entitled "Evaluation and Management of the Acute Airway."
The event also included an alumni event with nearly 50 to 60 people in attendance. Recent DUSON alumni award winner and founding member of the AANP also attended the event.
Valerie Sabol was elected to the Fellows of the AANP Selection Committee and Zychowicz was selected to continue in his leadership role as chair of the AANP Orthopedic Specialty Practice Group.
