Flu Fighters Administered More Than 4,000 Vaccines

Third and fourth semester ABSN students administered more than 4,000 flu vaccines this year as part of the Duke University Fight the Flu campaign. Providing more than 477 hours of flu clinic as part of their 477 - Population Health Practice: Communicable Diseases & Immunizations course, the students administered vaccines to students, faculty and staff throughout Duke campuses and professional schools. The students even visited TROSA and administered flu vaccines for their residents.

As part of the course, students developed marketing materials and public service advertisements that were sent to clinic locations to market the flu clinic.

The students administered 480 more vaccines than they had projected.
