Gonzalez-Guarda Submits Research Application
Kudos to Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda and her entire team for the submission of their Administrative Supplement to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research with Gabriela Nagy as the Candidate/Project Lead for the application entitled "Acculturation Stress, Biomarkers, and Psychopathology Among Hispanic Immigrants." This proposal request funding for a two-year period with a start date of Dec. 1, 2018.
The proposed Diversity Supplement will build upon the aims of the NIH Parent Grant, R01MC012249, to add to the existing literature focused on adapting existing evidence-based treatments for depression to address the unique needs of Hispanic immigrants, as well as to identify factors that are important to consider in the implementation of these interventions. Ultimately, these findings will provide crucial information to bridge the science-to-practice gap by informing development, adaptation and implementation for evidence-based treatments specifically delivered through community clinics serving Hispanic immigrants.
The aims of the project are 1) (Secondary Analysis) To establish mechanisms and etiology of acculturation stress, behavioral disruptions, physiological stress, and depression in Hispanic immigrants and 2) (Qualitative Study) To describe facilitators, barriers, and preferences of candidate evidence-based treatments for depression among Hispanic Immigrants with high levels of acculturation stress.
