It's Award Season... Nominations Now Being Accepted for the 2017 Staff Awards

The Duke University School of Nursing has a unique campus wide distinction of celebrating its dedicated staff with five annual awards. Staff Award winners not only receive a school wide recognition with a certificate and $500 check, the staff’s name will be added to the staff award placard in the Pearson Building. Staff Awards winners will be announced at the DUSON Annual Awards Ceremony in May. A ceremony that recognizes and celebrates the outstanding students, faculty and staff in DUSON’s community.

The 2017 Staff Awards include:

The Frances Mauney Community & Collaboration Award is presented to the person who influences others in working in support of the greater DUSON mission while collaborating across DUSON departments, programs, divisions, and the Duke University community to positively influence others.

The Leadership Award is presented to the DUSON staff member who is open minded, resourceful, enthusiastic, respectful, a good communicator, and versatile. This employee is invested in the overall success and mission of the school. The recipient has the aptitude, confidence and a desire to grow, and consistently demonstrates qualities inherit to great leadership.

The Outstanding Service to Students Award is a student-nominated award presented to the staff member who has gone above and beyond to assist students. This person is accessible, patient, approachable, and is committed to their role in support of our students. The staff member exemplifies consistent support and dedication to the education, scholarship, and success of student educational and personal growth.

The Peer to Peer Award which is a staff-nominated award presented to the DUSON staff member who consistently goes above and beyond in delivering service to other staff members within the School. This person demonstrates exceptional character by making careful, honest and considerate decisions.

Additionally, the Dean’s Commitment to Excellence Award is presented to a staff member selected from the recipients of the School’s Commitment to Excellence Staff Recognition Program. Nominees for the Dean’s Commitment to Excellence Award must have met one or more of the following criteria throughout the year:

  • Consistently demonstrates excellence in the performance of their job responsibilities.
  • Consistently exhibits a superb and ongoing high level of service to their customers.
  • Consistently produces the highest quality of work product.
  • Performed a significant and exceptional role in the completion of a high impact project or initiative.
