Kim Submits Multi-PI Subcontract Proposal

Kudos to Hyeoneui Kim and her entire team for the submission of their Subcontract proposal to the University of Texas – Health Sciences Center at Houston as a Multi-PI proposal with Xiaoquian Jiang, PhD, on their NIH R01 application entitled "Predicting Pain for Minimally Responsive Patients Using Data from Multiple Sources. This proposal requests funding for a four-year period with a start date of July 1, 2019.

This proposal aims to study a very important clinical and ethical challenge of managing pain in minimally responsive patients. We are proposing to seek solutions through innovative data science approaches.

The responsibilities that the research team at Duke will fulfil can be summarized in three main task areas: (1) preparing data for building predictive algorithms; (2) providing subject matter expertise on feature selection, evaluation of the prediction performance, and interpretation of the prediction results; and (3) Evaluating the performance of the finalized algorithms and investigating strategies to achieve interoperability of the prediction algorithms.
