Adultification occurs when consideration of childhood as a factor associated with behavior is reduced or removed due to racial bias and has a profound impact on the health and safety of Black children. Koch presented using the Racism as a Root Cause framework and a trauma-informed care approach to promote health equity for Black children and families in the emergency department.
