Amie Koch, assistant professor, wrote "Improving the health of mothers living in poverty" for the American Nurse journal produced by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The article discusses the evidence-based healthy lifestyle curriculum Koch created for mothers living in poverty based on major themes identified in a literature review of health risk factors for this patient population. The classes, which are for women only and are divided into four sections, take a trauma-informed approach and provide support and encouragement to build healthy relationships and healthy lifestyles.
