Kathryn Kreider recently published an article entitled "The Relationship between Fasting Blood Glucose and Cardiovascular Morbidity and Mortality" in the European Journal of Internal Medicine. Mark Feinglos co-authored the article.

Abstract

It is clear that diabetes has strong implications for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, although an increasing number of studies have suggested that fasting plasma glucose (FPG) values below the diabetes (and prediabetes) threshold also contribute to increased cardiovascular risk. A body of evidence exists supporting the idea that FPG values even lower than 100 mg/dL are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, after accounting for other variables.
