Lord to Become Full-Time Regular Rank Faculty

jamison lordJamison (Jamie) Lord, DNP will join DUSON’s full-time regular rank faculty effective September 1, 2021. She will be a member of the Healthcare in Adult Populations Division.

Lord earned her DNP from Western Carolina University and a Post-Graduate Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Virginia. She also holds an MS (Nursing Education) from UNC-Greensboro and a BS (Nursing) and BA (Education), both from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Lord began her career at DUSON as a clinical instructor and clinical nurse educator in the ABSN Program and, after completing her PMHNP degree, continued as a clinical instructor and later consulting associate in the MSN program. She currently teaches within the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty and serves as the co-director of the Veterans Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership (VANAP) PMHNP Residency Program.

Lord maintains her clinical practice as a PMHNP in a local behavioral health hospital where she precepts DUSON’s PMHNP students and is also a provider in the VA’s Emergency Department and outpatient clinics with the Veteran population. She works to integrate the many realms of the PMHNP role into the school’s MSN curriculum through innovative simulation activities and recently presented her work at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association’s national conference.

Notably, recognizing a need for ongoing mental health support of hospital employees and their families, Lord began the acquisition of a free mental health clinic targeting healthcare workers affected by the current pandemic. She envisions the new clinic will also be a viable clinical site for both local and out of state students.

Feel free to send her a personal greeting at her current Duke email address: jamie.lord@duke.edu.
