national nurses month 2020Beginning in May, the American Nurses Association will begin it’s celebration of National Nurses Month. Traditionally, this has been a week-long celebration; however, with this year being the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, it’s being extended for the full month.

The Duke University School of Nursing's Marketing and Communications department is putting together a marketing campaign to honor the exemplary nurses in our DUSON community and are seeking participants. If you are interested, email DukeUniversitySchoolofNursingNews@dm.duke.edu with a photo of yourself, either professional, in action or a selfie, and answer the below questions:

  1. Name?

  2. DUSON Connection (i.e. student, faculty, clinical instructor, alumni, etc.)?

  3. Hometown or work location?

  4. Considering the current global pandemic, why do you believe now is the best time to be in the nursing profession (i.e. practice, education, research, student)?

  5. Whether a year ago or 20 years ago, you made a decision to join the nursing profession. Why?

  6. What do you hope to see in the future for the nursing profession?

To celebrate National Nurses Month throughout the month, the American Nurses Association has divided the month into weekly themes:

  • Week 1: Self-Care

  • Week 2: Recognition

  • Week 3: Professional Development

  • Week 4: Community Engagement
