McGee earns Doctor of Medical Science Degree
Longtime DUSON clinical instructor Kara S. McGee graduated on August 2 with her Doctor of Medical Science degree with a concentration in Medical Education from Lincoln Memorial University, Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. Her capstone work focused on exploring how health professions educators inform curricular content related to social determinants of health (SDOH) and health disparities (HDs) and the development of curricular enhancements to teach health professions students about SDOH and HDs. Dr. McGee has been a valuable member of the MSN clinical instructor team for many years. She has worked closely with DUSON Associate Professor Les Harmon on the development, implementation, and management of the HIV Specialty at DUSON since 2014, and has taught and served as a mentor for health professions students at DUSON, the Duke PA Program, and the School of Medicine. In addition to teaching, Dr. McGee maintains an active HIV clinical practice in the Division of Infectious Disease at Duke, and at the Northern Outreach Clinic in Henderson, NC.
