Message from the Dean: Happy Nurses Week

“Save One Life and You’re a Hero- Save 100 Lives and You’re a Nurse”     Unknown

This day begins, or ends, a week of celebrating the contributions nurses make every day to improving health, reducing suffering and caring for those who are unable to care for themselves. Nurses in academic settings transform lives of students and help shape them into the nurse leaders who will provide the highest quality care and co-lead our health systems in hospitals and communities.

The contributions of every nurse educator does indeed save lives- for some directly through their own practice in acute care, primary care and community agencies, others through the students they have educated and supported, others through the creation of knowledge needed to improve care and systems for care delivery.

To each of you: Take time to reflect on your career and the many lives you have touched during the years.  Those moments did make a difference and create a tapestry you can be so proud of!
