Message from the Dean: New Associate Dean for Development & Alumni Affairs
After a national search, I am very pleased to announce that Anita Stallings will serve as our next Associate Dean, Development and Alumni Affairs for the Duke University School of Nursing. Anita comes to Duke with extensive academic development and alumni relations experience, most recently as Associate Dean for Advancement, College of Sciences, North Carolina State University.
Anita will begin her new role on June 1, 2016 and follows Fran Mauney who announced her retirement earlier this year. At North Carolina State, Anita developed and oversaw an extremely successful development and alumni relations communications program. While serving on the Dean’s leadership team, she lead the college’s comprehensive effort as a part of NC State’s $1.5 billion campaign supporting academic priorities while cultivating major gift prospects.
Anita rose through the North Carolina State University system from Director of Development, to Executive Director, Development and College Relations to her most recent position. However prior to joining NCSU, she also held development positions here at Duke University Medical Center, and Pennsylvania State University.
Her 25 years of experience in all aspects of development, communications and alumni affairs in higher education and healthcare will help us build on our already successful alumni affairs and development program. With the pending launch of our new strategic plan for DUSON, I am looking forward to the contributions that Anita and her team will make to our already bright future.
Fran Mauney will be with us until end of summer as there are many different constituencies who Fran will need to introduce Anita too. We will be planning her retirement celebration, to be held in August.
Please join me in welcoming Anita to our DUSON Family. I know that each of you will help Anita feel at home and help her make a smooth and successful transition .
