Message from the Dean: New Faculty Announcement

Christina LeonardI am pleased to announce Christina Leonard, APRN, DNP, FNP-C, CNL, will join DUSON’s faculty on August 1, 2019.  Her teaching responsibilities will be in the ABSN program and she will be a member of Healthcare of Adult Populations Division.

Dr. Leonard comes to Duke from UNC Chapel School of Nursing where is an assistant professor and has taught and coordinated adult health courses in the graduate and undergraduate programs there and serves as the faculty advisor for the Aspiring Critical Care Nurses student interest group.  She also brings experiences in interprofessional education through her work as their school’s representative on UNC’s Rural Interprofessional Health Initiative Grant.  

Dr. Leonard is a family nurse practitioner and since 2012  has practiced as an NP in inpatient cardiology at Wake Med Health and Hospitals.  

Dr. Leonard received her BA in English and Psychology, her ABSN and MSN (Nursing Education)  from George Mason University, and a Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from UNC Chapel Hill.  Last year she completed her DNP at East Carolina University.
