Message from the Dean: New Faculty Announcement

Amie KochI am pleased to announce Amie Koch, DNP, FNP-C, RN, ACHPN, will join DUSON’s faculty on July 1, 2019. Her teaching responsibilities will be in the ABSN program in community health courses and she will be a member of Division 3, Clinical Health Systems & Analytics. 

Koch earned her BSN (2004) and MSN (2008) from DUSON and her DNP (2017) from East Carolina University. She also holds certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner.

Koch is currently a Lecturer at North Carolina Central University’s BSN Department where she teaches a variety of courses - pediatrics, community health clinical, senior synthesis of nursing concepts, health assessment and community health - and is a committed mentor to nurses and nurse practitioners. She also maintains clinical practice as an FNP at the non-profit Transitions LifeCare Palliative Care and Hospice providing palliative care to both adult and pediatric clients in the community.

As a board member or a volunteer, she is engaged in the Durham community and over the years has devoted her time to the Durham Mayor’s Council for Women, Durham Public Schools, the Durham Partnership for Health and Housing Committee, Durham CAN, Urban Ministries and other organizations.
