Throughout the week, students participated in lectures and hands-on sessions appropriate to their individual majors while being able to interact more one-on-one with their peers and involved faculty.

The primary day of activities was September 29, also referred to as MSN NPI Day. The students were broken into sections based on their individual major and course: N618 (Nurse Practitioner Intensive II: Care Management, Information Management, Collaboration and Contextual Relevance), N619 (Nurse Practitioner Intensive III: Collaboration, Leadership, and Scholarship) acute and N619 primary. Anne Derouin, assistant dean, MSN Program, and Midge Bowers and Rémi M. Hueckel, associate professors, with one faculty member per group, separately started the day by welcoming their individual groups. Early in the afternoon, Dean Vincent Guilamo-Ramos presented to all the students. Later that day, April Kapu, American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) president, spoke to N619 students in Pearson 1014 and 1103; the session was also livestreamed. Derouin and Hueckel hosted and moderated live and Zoom questions for the presentation. Throughout the day, students also engaged in sessions on cultural intelligence, professional transitions and mock group interviews and were able to meet and speak with alumni. The Alumni Affairs Office also set up a photo station for the students to come by and take photos in front of a DUSON backdrop.

Other involved faculty for the NPIs include: Desi Newberry, faculty, Malinda Teague, assistant professor, Debbie Travers, associate consulting professor, Sean Convoy, assistant professor, Jane Blood-Siegfried, professor, and Kathy Trotter and Benjamin Smallheer, associate professors.
