News From the IEE: Call For Abstracts, Book Club and E-Portfolios
The Institute for Educational Excellence (IEE) is accepting abstract submissions for podium/oral presentations at the 8th annual Pursing Radical Transformation in Health Professions Conference until Dec. 18. The focus of the conference this year is on Health Professions Education and the Science of Learning. The conference will take place March 22-23 at the Duke University School of Nursing. Each podium/oral presentation will be 45 minutes. Click here for more information and to submit your abstract.
The IEE has 18 faculty and staff from the School of Nursing and Duke Ahead actively involved in hearty discussion and learning while reading the book "Making it Stick" by Peter. C. Brown. It's a fascinating review of evidence on best teaching and learning practices. If you need a good read over the holidays, this is well worth it.
Additionally, you may have noticed that your Sakai site now has a tab on the left column called e-Portfolios! Check it out! Students in the ABSN program are currently using e-Portfolios via Pebblepad™ to reflect on their progress in learning and achieving the 7 curricular concepts. Both the DNP and PhD programs have developed their program e-Portfolios for their students with plans to begin student use in fall of 2018. For more information, ask one of our task force members: Beth Phillips, Ann Derouin, Nancy Foskey, Ellie McConnell, Wendy Perry, Marilyn Oermann, Liz Rende, Cheryl Rodgers and Qing Yang.
The IEE wishes you a very happy holiday and much health, success and joy in the New Year!
