Oermann and DNP Student Gelinas Receive ASHPE Awards

Lillee GelinasMarilyn Oermann, professor; and Lillee Gelinas, DNP student; recently received American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) Awards for their publications. 

Oermann was awarded the Bronze Award in the Best Original Research category for her article "Quality of articles published in predatory nursing journals" published in Nursing Outlook. Co-authors of her article include Kathleen Ashton, consulting associate; Alison Edie, assistant professor; Sathya Amarasekara, Statistician III; Leslie Nicoll of Maine Desk LLC; Peggy Chinn of University of Connecticut School of Nursing; Jamie Conklin of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and Brittany Williams of Duke University. 

Gelinas was awarded the Gold Award in the Best Cover: Illustration category for her article "Nurse Suicide" published in American Nurse Today; Bronze Award in the Best Opening Page or Spread category for her article entitled "Disasters, regulation, and proactive response" published in American Nurse Today; Gold Award for the Best How-To Article category for her article "Leadless peacemakers: A new technology in cardiac pacing" published in American Nurse Today; and Silver Award in the Best Overall Use of Graphics category for an article published in American Nurse Today. 

For over 19 years, ASHPE has been recognizing excellence in the healthcare publication field and their awards have become a coveted symbol of distinction. They recognize there is a difference between the healthcare publication sector and the general business publication community, so with their competition, entrants are competing with peers in their own field.
