OGACHI Welcomes Visiting Scholars Kim and Kidayi

OGACHI welcomes visiting scholars Souk Young Kim from the Republic of Korea and Paulo Kidayi from Tanzania.

Souk Young Kim, PhD, RN arrived at DUSON on Thursday, Sept. 6 for a nine-month visit.

Kim is Associate Professor at Eulji University College of Nursing in Daejeon, Republic of Korea and will have a mentored and professional development experience working under the guidance of Eun-Ok Im.

During her time at DUSON, she will:

  • Have tangible research experience in a federally funded research project on Asian American women's breast cancer survivorship.
  • Develop a paper related to breast cancer patient's survivorship based on my research experience during the mentoring period.
  • Gain experience on the advanced nursing education system at Duke University School of Nursing.
  • Participate in a course: NURS901-Philosophy of Science & Theory Development.

Additionally, she will present a one-hour colloquium on her research, nursing or health care in her country while at DUSON. An announcement will be forthcoming in the near future.

Paulo Kidayi arrived at DUSON on Thursday, Sept. 6 for a three-month visit.

Kidayi is the Associate Dean, Faculty of Nursing at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College in Moshi, Tanzania and will have a mentored and professional development experience working under the guidance of Marilyn Oermann.

During his time at DUSON, Kidayi will:

  • Develop the ability to write a scientific paper that can be published in a peer-reviewed journal. 
  • Prepare an electronic data collection tool and transfer to software analysis package (quantitative data).
  • Develop the ability to supervise thesis for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Develop nursing education research in Tanzania to improve nursing services.

Additionally, he will present a one-hour colloquium on nursing and/or global health in Tanzania while at DUSON. An announcement will be forthcoming in the near future.
