Only 1 More Week Left to Get Your Flu Shot!

Faculty, staff, instructors, and post-doctoral fellows must receive their flu vaccinations by Friday, Oct. 26, 2018. If you haven't received your flu shot yet, visit the DUSON Wellness Expo on Wednesday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pearson 1103 to receive your free flu shots. Attendees can also receive free wellness screenings, chair massages and giveaways.

Duke Health, which includes Duke University Health System (DUHS) and the Schools of Nursing and Medicine, is committed to reducing the prevalence of the influenza virus within our community.  As part of this commitment, obtaining a flu shot is a condition of employment for DUSON faculty, instructors and post-doctoral fellows. In addition, all research staff who will be present in a clinical environment or will have or are likely to have contact with research subjects are also required to be immunized against the flu. 

If you cannot attend the DUSON vaccination events, a complete listing of available locations for obtaining your flu vaccination can be found here. Faculty and staff who choose to get a flu shot from their health care provider or pharmacy should submit the documentation from that provider to the Employee Occupational Health & Wellness confidential fax at 919-613-3518.

Those who fall in one of the required categories and who have medical or religious reasons for requesting an exemption may do so by completing one of two attached forms. Those requesting a medical exemption should submit their request to Duke Employee Occupational Health and Wellness (EOHW) per the instructions on the form.   Those who have a religious reason to request an exemption may do so by completing the religious exemption request form and sending it to Staff and Labor Relations per the instructions on the form. Applications for both exemptions are due no later than Oct. 8, 2018. All requests for exemptions will be reviewed and all decisions will be communicated directly to the requestor.

All DUSON students are also required to be vaccinated and will receive a separate communication.  In order to meet compliance for registration deadlines, deadlines for vaccinations for all students will be Oct. 8, 2018.
