Iris Padilla presenting at community eventThe Duke Community Engaged Research Initiative (CERI) of the Duke Clinical Science Translational Science Institute (CTSI), clergy from the St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, and researchers from North Carolina Central University partnered to raise awareness on diabetes and the importance of participation in clinical research among the African American community as part of a larger partnership - the St. Mark AME Zion Health Equity Advocates & Liaisons (HEAL). Iris Padilla was invited by this partnership to share her expertise on diabetes and to address questions from the audience. To accomplish this goal, a recording of an ethnodrama entitled "A Touch of Sugga" was shown in St. Mark's Church on February 19 to over 70 community members.
