Padilla Presents For School of Medicine on Immigrant Health

Iris Padilla, assistant professor, was part of a panel discussion focusing on immigrant health for the School of Medicine Cultural Determinants and Health Disparities course. It is a new course for first year MD and PT students. The panel discussion focused on some of the health care issues that affect the population she works with at Lincoln Community Health Center and in the community; challenges patients face in accessing the health care system in Durham; how to overcome those challenges; and ends with advice for the students in their clinical encounters with immigrant and refugee communities as they start their clinical rotation.
