PhD Student Cao Submits Sigma Grant on Chinese Partner Violence

Kudos to Jiepin Cao and her advisor, Associate Professor Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, for the submission of her Sigma Theta Tau Global Nursing Excellence small grant proposal entitled: “Intimate Partner Violence Among Chinese: From the Lens of Social Determinants of Health and Intersectionality.” This proposal requests funds for a 1 year period with a start date of June 1, 2020.

This study will examine the extent to which demographic factors, socioeconomic status, and gender role attitudes are associated with Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) among adult Chinese women from the theoretical lens of Social Determinants of Health and intersectionality as well as to describe the general health for different IPV exposure groups.

The aims of the study are tdescribe the past three-month and lifetime frequency of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) among Chinese women, examine the extent to which demographic factors, socioeconomic status (SES) and gender role attitudes are associated with IPV among adult Chinese women through the theoretical lens of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and feminist intersectionality, and to describe the general health status between Chinese who have been exposed to IPV in the past three months and lifetime compared to those without a history of IPV during these time frames.
