Population-based Innovation Groups: Invitation

In the 6 months I’ve been in Duke’s palliative care program, I’ve been impressed by the wealth of clinical skills and research expertise we have available to us.  However, it seems that sometimes there isn’t as much collaboration as there could be among people with similar interests and goals.  That’s a wonderful problem to have, because it means that we’ve got some exciting opportunities to grow simply by connecting people with similar interests.

The timing is also good, because there are several opportunities on the horizon for which we’ll need to maximize our collaboration.  These include a Duke Endowment grant this year and a T32 next year, and several others.  Therefore, in an effort to enhance research and QI collaboration, and to lay the groundwork for these funding opportunities, we’ll be assembling 4 innovation groups, with administrative support, as well as support for meals, and some funding for pilot projects.

The structure of these groups reflects many recent conversations with diverse stakeholders.  They’re designed to be cross-cutting, and each will include interests such as communication, disparities, decision support, psychosocial support, symptom management, etc.

Two requests:

1) Please take a moment to review the list of groups (click on the survey link below) and indicate your interest in participating in one or two.

2) Please forward this email to others you think might be interested, especially trainees.
