Richard-Eaglin Receives Cultural Intelligence Certification and Becomes UN Shots@Life Champion
Angela Richard-Eaglin, assistant professor, is now a certified Cultural Intelligence I & II and Unconscious Bias Professional facilitator and coach. The certification was obtained through the Cultural Intelligence Center, a research-based company that specializes in providing peer-reviewed, research-based tools, training, and coaching on cultural intelligence and unconscious bias to individuals and organizations across the globe. This training augments the research that she is pursuing through the educational grant she was awarded from the IEE, which will examine the impact of cultural intelligence assignments in health professions courses on practice and patient outcomes. She would like to extend extra special thanks to the Executive Leadership team (Dean Broome, Valerie Howard, Valerie Sabol, Beth Phillips, and Brigit Carter) for supporting this training. Richard-Eaglin is eager to partner with them in facilitating professional development initiatives that align with the DUSON Strategic Plan and Core Values.
In addition, Richard-Eaglin, recently attended American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Annual Region 4 and 8 Invitational Leader Meeting in Franklin, TN. This meeting brings together leaders from each of the states within Region 4: Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Region 8: Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. She was invited to attend as one of the leaders representing the state of NC. As a result of this meeting, she forged many professional networking relationships and has been asked to assist with local policy initiatives and to provide consulting on some of the priority initiatives for leaders in some of the other states. Additionally, some of the AANP members attending the meeting were offered the opportunity to become trained as United Nations Shot@Life Global Immunizations Champions. Richard-Eaglin seized the opportunity and is now a trained champion. This training directly aligns with her commitment to impacting health equity and social justice. She looks forward to working with anyone who's interested in this training and/or supporting this initiative.
