SAWAC Team Nominated for Duke Blue Ribbon Teamwork Award

Duke University School of Nursing's Staff and Workplace Advocacy Council (SaWAC) team was recently nominated for the 2018 Blue Ribbon Teamwork Award. SAWAC supports DUSON by enhancing communication, improving functionality and promoting engagement within the workplace. They also actively commit specifically to the promotion and implementation of programs and events in support of staff development.

The team spends countless hours volunteering their time to not only plan these meetings, but plan and coordinate events for the entire school to become better acquainted and stronger by spending time together. They lead service projects that help the community and even raise scholarship funds for our students who are in need of assistance.

SaWAC members are committed to the mission of DUSON and Duke and work beyond their regular job duties. Members agree to take time for monthly meetings, and work on subcommittees in between those meetings to plan for school wide events, service activities, celebrations and professional development opportunities for staff. SaWAC works towards creating and maintaining a sense of joy and pride within the community of faculty, administrators, researchers and students by prioritizing and advocating on behalf of the staff. They are a great addition to DUSON and are a great example of how teamwork is essential to successfully reaching our goals.

SaWAC has evolved over the years to become significant representatives of the staff. Thank you for all you do!
