Scholars at Duke and the New DUSON Website

Over the past several months, faculty have been encouraged to update their Scholars at Duke profiles to

  1. Ensure their profile in Scholars is accurate, and

  2. Prepare for Scholars at Duke to become the source of our faculty directory information on our new DUSON website.

Because the complexity of the web relaunch, and allowing for adequate time for faculty to update their profiles on Scholars, we purposefully did not co-mingle the two projects to coincide with the website launch.

Much of the information in your Scholars profile is fed from Duke enterprise systems and has to be edited in those systems. However, there are also several parts that you can update yourself. The key areas on which you should concentrate in developing or enhancing your profile are as follows:

  1. Overview – a simple narrative paragraph about who you are.  This can be entered directly into Scholars@Duke, or copied and pasted from another document;

  2. Profile picture – use your official Duke headshot, can be imported and manipulated in the Scholars application;

  3. Subject headings – think of these are “key words” or areas of expertise that will identify you in a search. The recommendation is to enter 5-20 subject headings.

We will be making the transition to Scholars in the near future, and ask that any faculty members who have not yet taken the opportunity to update their Scholars profiles to please do so.
