"I would like to nominate Helen Williams for the Commitment to Excellence Staff Recognition Program. Helen was appointed by the Faculty Governance Association to support the Faculty Retreat, which is a high impact initiative for the faculty. This initiative required Helen to not only be present for the entire retreat, which was off-site, but also to coordinate reservations for the venue, hotel and meals, food and supplies at the venue, IT issues, and Qualtrics. This was all in addition to her daily faculty support responsibilities. During the last week of planning alone, there were an intense number of emails and requirements to visit the venue for final preparation. She was an integral part of this planning, and without her, the event would not have gone as smoothly as it had. Helen’s high level of service and dedication to DUSON was felt and appreciated by all." ~ Benjamin Smallheer
"I would like to nominate Charnetta Cooper, Karen Jackson and Helen Williams for a Commitment to Excellence Recognition Award for consistently performing significant and exceptional roles in the completion of high impact projects and initiatives. At least twice each semester, the MSN Program Office has rather ambitious projects and timelines we work to meet. And we are ever grateful for the Duke University School of Nursing (Division/Faculty Support) Staff Assistants who help our Office with inspired levels of teamwork. Last week we completed a mailing to 446 MSN Preceptors in less than two hours! With an assembly line of address labels, packing envelopes, letters, and gifts to our nursing partners - we completed a task that would have taken our 3 person office days to complete. Each semester, we also ask for volunteers during the MSN On Campus Intensive (OCI) and have yet to not see one or all of these staff assistants during the week. I’ve worked at DUSON as a staff assistant and know very well just how much they juggle. So we, Michael, Lindsay and I, wanted to say a very loud THANK YOU for their commitment to excellence at DUSON. They are walking examples of our Core Values of Respect, Excellence, Integrity and Collaboration. We appreciate Charnetta Cooper, Karen Jackson and Helen Williams for always showing up to help!" ~Najla McClain
"Since I started working at Duke, Bonita has been a great help. Anytime that I need help with anything, she stops what she's doing and offers assistance without hesitation. In times when she can't directly help me, she goes out of her way to direct me to the person who can. She exudes professionalism, and is a delight to work with. It's refreshing to have co-workers who are always willing to help you, even when it's not necessarily their responsibility to do so." ~ Angela Richard-Eaglin
"I would like to formally nominate all of the staff that went above and beyond on our last DNP orientation at the beginning of January. We had received some snow and ice the night before, and our colleagues pitched in and helped make this orientation a success. Ernie Rushing for pitching in and helping give our students the DUSON tour, Teresa Jenkins who came in early to assist with students, the CITDL Team—Carla Nichols, Denise Williams, Jeff Clark and Nicholas McNeill for sticking with our students despite the weather and getting all of their computer problems fixed while they were on campus. There were many others that stopped by, checked in, and offered help. Thank you to all!" ~Jennifer Meyer Dare
