Sign Up for New DUSON Faculty & Staff Workshop - "The Finances and Economy of DUSON”

A number of faculty and staff have expressed interest in learning more about DUSON’s finances, so I have created a new workshop to meet this need.  About 20 DUSON faculty and staff have attended the initial pilot sessions and the feedback has been positive.  I am now opening up the sessions to all staff and faculty.

“The Finances and Economy of DUSON”  will increase understanding of the inter-relationship of our finances, School fiscal priorities, the money management strategies we utilize to build resources over the long-term while achieving short term goals, and what makes this place tick – fiscally speaking, that is.  The workshop is comprised of two parts consisting of two 90-minute sessions and is eligible for 3 CE credits.  Although we will be covering a large amount of material, the workshop is designed for small groups and to be highly interactive (without much accounting speak!).  Topics covered include:

Session 1

  1. And DUSON’s net worth is $ __________
  2. Reserves - savings account with a lousy interest rate
  3. Grow baby, grow!  (an endowment’s best friend)
  4. The fiscal machine – primary support resources
  5. Group exercise – financial levers

Session 2

  1. Inter-relationship of mission areas
  2. Tuition rate and scholarships
  3. DUSON research economics 101
  4. The parallel universe – our budget process
  5. Group exercise – a “surplus” of ideas
