Tanabe Meets with Congressional Health Staff on Their Visit to Duke

As a follow up to Dean Marion E. Broome's visit to Capitol Hill a few weeks ago, Paula Tanabe met with staffers Dennis Sills (Rep. Butterfield, NC) and Danielle Steele, (House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael Burgess, R-TX) during their recent visit to Duke.

Tanabe provided an overview of her research on improving systems and patient outcomes for person with sickle cell disease and very succinctly described what federal funding she receives. They also asked for feedback on a bill, H.R. 1807 - the Sickle Cell Disease Research, Surveillance, Prevention and Treatment Act, from the last Congress in case there are ways to strengthen it for reintroduction in the current Congress.
