Trent Drive Repair Impacts Traffic, Buses

Article Via Duke Today...

DURHAM, NC - Motorists driving near on or near Trent Drive starting April 1 should allow extra time for delays as crews repave and add sidewalk to a portion of Trent Drive. Stops available for Duke and regional bus routes will also be adjusted.

About 400 feet of road will be impacted along Trent Drive, between Flowers Drive and Duke Medicine Circle. During work hours, scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to April 7, construction crewmembers will be on hand to direct traffic, which will have access to one lane for traffic moving both ways on Trent. Depending on weather, work hours may be extended later into the evening.

Along with motorists, Duke community members and local residents who use bus stops on Trent Drive may need to use alternative, nearby stops during the duration of work. For Duke buses, no routes will serve the Trent Drive at Duke Clinic stops (#5078 and #5743) in either direction during this period. Instead, passengers will get on and off at the Duke Medical Pavilion (#12105).

Here are impacts for two Duke routes:

  • H2 detour: To avoid the construction zone, the H2 bus will be detoured to Erwin Road in eastbound and westbound directions, serving a temporary stop across from the H Lot for all Yearby Avenue passengers. Morning and evening routes will also use the Erwin Road detour to avoid Trent Drive traffic congestion. See this map for details.
  • H5 detour:  The H5 bus will proceed westbound as normal through the Trent Drive construction project. Passengers may experience delays due to congestion. The eastbound H5 will detour around Trent Drive via Erwin Road after serving Duke Medicine Pavilion. See this map for details.

GoTriangle and GoDurham buses will pick up and drop off passengers at the Trent Drive-Erin Road stop outside Trent Drive Hall (#6499 and #5081).

All bus passengers can track buses in real-time using TransLoc. Use this map for GoTriangle buses and this map for Duke buses.
