The designated holiday for Christmas Day will be observed on Friday, December 24, 2021, for all staff in academic medical and research units, including the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and PDC. This date will also be used by staff in Duke University Health System for the purposes of holiday premium payment related to the observance of the holiday.

This year, Christmas falls on a Saturday, and originally the holiday was scheduled to be recognized on Monday, December 27, 2021. The observance of the designated holiday is being moved to the previous Friday to align with clinical services and patient appointments.
