"Priorities for US Health Policy" will be part of the virtual Department of Population Health Sciences External Speaker Series. Sherry Glied, dean of New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, will answer important questions pertaining to US Health Policy, including:

• What are the most important problems? What are the problems most likely to be addressed, and why are those often different?

• What are the short- and long-term impacts/lessons from COVID-19 for the future of US health policy?

• How should we think about the next iteration of health policy development?

The presentation will be Wednesday, February 10, from noon to 1 p.m.

Since 2013, Glied has been dean of NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Previously she was a professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. From July 2010 to August 2012, Glied served as assistant secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the Department of Health and Human Services and before that served as senior economist on the President's Council of Economic Advisers under Presidents Bush and Clinton. She also participated in the Clinton Health Care Task Force. Glied has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Social Insurance and served as a member of the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking.

Glied's principal areas of research are in health policy reform and mental health care policy. She is an economist, receiving her BA from Yale University, MA from the University of Toronto, and PhD from Harvard University.
