Volunteer Opportunity: Produce in a SNAP

The Fresh Produce Program's Produce in a SNAP market will begin Jan. 24! A group of Duke University School of Medicine students are looking to build an interdisciplinary team working at the market. Volunteer opportunities consist of three hours from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursdays to help set up the market, pack bags of produce and sell them to customers at the market. If this is something that interests you, contact Jackée Okoli at jackee.okoli@duke.edu for more information on volunteer opportunities. The sign-up list for volunteer opportunities can be found here.

Produce in a SNAP is a weekly at cost community produce market hosted at Duke Hospital on the Duke Medicine Pavilion Greenway, outside of Trent Semans Center for Health Education every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. For just $7 you will receive over ten pounds of easy to prepare fresh fruits and vegetables direct from the farm.  Each bag will always contain one leafy green, four to five types of vegetables, and two to three types of fruit. Produce variety changes each week, and you even get to customize your bag to your taste! We accept cash, SNAP/EBT, and credit with no questions asked.

This Produce in a SNAP market is open to anyone at the hospital (patients or staff), in the community, or surrounding communities! Just walk on up and shop with us!
